What are your predictions for the automotive industry in 2024?
As I am specialized in the medium- and heavy-duty commercial vehicle industry, I foresee the global production will continue to thrive through 2024. Mainland China, in particular, will play a significant role in driving this growth. Factors such as post-pandemic economic recovery, the government’s ongoing anti-pollution campaign, and OEM’s efforts in global expansion will contribute to this trend. In 2024, the Chinese medium- and heavy-duty commercial vehicle industry will be characterized by three key factors, including natural gas-powered trucks, electrification, and exports.
Who is your inspirational woman?
There are numerous women who provide me with inspiration on a daily basis, and one recent addition to that list is Tu Youyou, a Chinese pharmaceutical chemist. She made history as the first Chinese woman to be awarded the Nobel Prize for her groundbreaking contributions to the discovery of artemisinin, a drug that has greatly advanced the treatment of malaria and improved global health. What truly inspires me about Tu Youyou is her ability to combine traditional knowledge with modern scientific methods. This innovative approach is also crucial in my own research work. Her dedication to finding solutions and her commitment to improving the lives of others serve as a constant reminder of the impact that a woman can make in the world.
What was your first car?
My first vehicle is a Lego truck I received as a birthday gift at the age of 10. As I marveled at the intricate design and structure of the vehicle, I spent an entire day immersed in the challenge of assembling it. Little did I know at the time, this simple toy would shape my passion and lead my future career path towards the automotive industry.
In one word, what is the opportunity for women in automotive currently?
Equity. With more and more talented and capable women entering the automotive industry that was once dominated by men, the diversity brings about increased opportunities, resources and support for all individuals to thrive and succeed in the industry.
