In our Inspirational Role Model series, we shine a spotlight on the women driving change, breaking barriers, and shaping the future of the automotive industry.
This week, we’re delighted to feature Anchen Genlloud, Global Network Key Account Manager at Kuehne + Nagel Inc. With over two decades of experience spanning OEMs, Tier 1 suppliers, and freight forwarders, Anchen has built a career rooted in adaptability, creative thinking, and a passion for making an impact.
From stepping into an automotive role “by accident” to becoming a trusted partner for global clients, Anchen’s journey is filled with resilience, inspiration, and practical advice for women looking to thrive in the sector.
Can you tell us a little about you, your background and how you got started in the automotive industry?
I am a mother, a wife, and a lifelong learner who found my calling in the automotive industry—almost by accident.
Over two decades ago, I started as a temp, tasked with transferring engineering documents into a new system. It was a straightforward assignment, aligned with my training. But when that project wrapped up and my contract neared its end, something unexpected happened. The Head of Engineering saw potential in me. At the time, the company urgently needed someone to step into a buyer role after a sudden departure. With just one hour of training, I was handed the reins—running RFQs, using SAP, placing orders—without any prior experience in supply chain, purchasing, or inventory management.
It was a trial by fire, and I loved every second of it.
That moment changed everything. I discovered a passion for the fast-paced, ever-evolving world of automotive. The excitement of being at the center of it all—the people, the pressure, the problem-solving—hooked me. Now, 23 years later, I am still here, more passionate than ever.
I have worked across the full spectrum of the industry—from OEMs to Tier 1 suppliers to freight forwarders—gaining a 360° view of the automotive supply chain. I have built a career on adaptability, creative thinking, and a deep understanding of what it takes to deliver results in a global, multicultural environment.
And through it all, I have stayed true to who I am: positive, driven, and always ready for the next challenge.
What is your current role, and what are your primary responsibilities within your organisation?
I currently serve as a Global Network Key Account Manager within our global automotive network. In this role, I am responsible for managing and nurturing relationships with our most strategic automotive clients.
My core responsibilities include:
Driving sustainable growth across key accounts by identifying opportunities and aligning solutions with client needs.
Ensuring strategic alignment between our organization and our customers, fostering long-term partnerships built on trust and mutual value.
Delivering measurable results by focusing on performance, innovation, and continuous improvement, ensuring a positive return on investment for both sides.
This role enables me to combine my in-depth industry knowledge with a global perspective, working across cultures and markets to create a meaningful impact.
Who has been a source of inspiration and support for you, and how did they empower you to reach your goals?
My daughter, now 23, has been a constant source of inspiration throughout my journey. From the earliest days of my career, she was my motivation to push forward, to grow, and to succeed. Her presence gave me purpose, and her belief in me—even when she was too young to express it—fueled my determination. Watching her grow into a confident, capable woman continues to inspire me every single day.
Equally, my husband has been my unwavering support. Through every challenge, late night, and career leap, he is stood by me with encouragement, patience, and a quiet strength that has never wavered. His belief in me has given me the confidence to take risks, embrace new opportunities, and stay grounded through it all.
Together, they are my foundation. Their unwavering belief in me has empowered me to reach goals I once thought was out of reach, and they continue to remind me every day why I do what I do.
What techniques have you used to effectively build your influence and credibility within your organisation?
Over the years, I have learned that influence is not about titles—it is about trust, consistency, and connection. Here are the key ways I have built my credibility:
Lead by Example
I deliver results, meet deadlines, and stay calm under pressure. Reliability has been the foundation of my professional reputation.
Build Cross-Functional Relationships
I take the time to understand the goals and challenges of teams across the business. This helps me collaborate effectively and advocate for solutions that serve the bigger picture.
Stay Curious and Adaptable
From learning SAP in an hour to mastering supply chain strategy, I have embraced every challenge as a growth opportunity. My adaptability shows others that I am both capable and committed.
Communicate with Clarity and Confidence
Whether in a QBR or a quick team sync, I focus on clear, confident communication. I listen actively and tailor my message to the audience to ensure alignment and trust.
Think Creatively and Solve Problems
I am known for thinking outside the box. I do not just identify problems—I bring solutions. This mindset has helped me become a go-to resource in fast-moving environments.
Support and Mentor Others
I believe in lifting others as I grow. Sharing knowledge and supporting colleagues not only strengthens the team—it reinforces my credibility as a leader and collaborator.
Stay Positive and Professional
I bring a “glass half full” mindset to every interaction. Positivity is powerful, and I have found it to be a key driver of influence and team morale.
How do you support and empower other women in your organisation to achieve their career goals?
Supporting other women is something I care deeply about. I have been fortunate to have people believe in me throughout my journey, and I make it a priority to pay that forward.
One of the main ways I do this is through mentoring. I share my experiences—both the wins and the lessons learned—to help others navigate their own paths with more confidence and clarity.
I also believe in the power of listening. Sometimes, just having someone who truly hears you can make all the difference. I make time to be that person—someone others can turn to for honest, supportive conversations.
And finally, I am a big advocate for sharing best practices. Whether it is a new approach that worked well, a tool that saved time, or a strategy that helped build a client relationship, I believe in lifting others by sharing what works.
Empowering women is not about grand gestures—it is about showing up, being real, and helping each other grow.
How do you respond to those who say the automotive industry is still a "man's world"?
I believe we only allow it to be a man's world if we continue to believe it is. The automotive industry—like any industry—is shaped by the people who show up, speak up, and lead. Women have every right and every capability to thrive here, and I have seen firsthand how powerful we can be when we claim our space.
I have built my career in this industry by staying curious, being bold, and never letting outdated perceptions define my path. The more we challenge the narrative, the more we change it—for ourselves and for the next generation.
What’s your personal career motto?
“Stay curious, stay bold, and never underestimate the power of showing up.”
This motto has guided me through every stage of my career—from stepping into the unknown to leading global accounts. It reminds me that growth comes from being open to learning, having the courage to take risks, and consistently showing up with purpose and positivity.
Anchen’s career is a testament to the power of curiosity, courage, and showing up—values that have guided her from her first unexpected role in automotive to her current global leadership position. Her story is a reminder that growth often comes from stepping into the unknown and embracing every challenge as an opportunity.
We’d like to thank Anchen for sharing her journey, wisdom, and passion for empowering others in the industry.
