We caught up with her for an interview. Here is what she had to say:

Why did you join the Women Automotive Network?

To enhance my network with like minded women in the industry. Also, I dont see many women at my work place, especially in engineering and I wish to know and believe that women are actively seeking careers in the Automotive industry.

Why is DE&I important to you?

I believe a person should be evaluated based on the calibre regardless of the identities s/he carries. Being a Mechanical engineer and leading core engineering activities, I find it is a very lonely journey as a female, and I hope more women can see the possibilities in engineering for a career.

What is the number one automotive trend you are keeping up with currently?

Electrification of commercial vehicles.

What are your predictions for the automotive industry in 2023?

Electric vehicles, Autonomous vehicles.

Who is your inspirational woman?

My mother.
What is your proudest career moment?
When the Electric truck for which I lead Engineering and Program management was successfully running at Customers.
What is the greatest challenge you have had to overcome?
Personally, when I decided to become Mechanical engineer, it was very difficult to make a decision at a very young age when social influence was high and no female role model to look up to, or even a single example around.
What was your first car?
Ford focus
What advice would you offer to those considering starting a career within the automotive industry?
When you enter your work zone, you have only one identity that is what your job-role is. All other identity labels which don't add value in your job role, are unnecessary at work place, hence do your job utilising your talents and capabilities in the best way possible.
In one word, what is the opportunity for women in automotive currently?
Autonomous vehicles.
